Wes has three degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia, with part of his civil engineering coursework done at the UMKC campus under a coordinated program. He retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation after a 23-year career in construction and design, mostly as a Transportation Project Manager. He was an Assistant Professor teaching engineering technology and construction management courses at Missouri Western State University for five years. He has also done consulting engineering and most recently worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation as an Assistant Director of Program Management and Area Engineer.
Wes’ masters research involved using ELISA to detect contaminated soil. His current research interests include decision-making and prioritization for transportation projects, and the inter-relationships between rehabilitated roadway features and unsafe driving practices. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Kansas and Missouri.
